Fight 2 Win 92 Interview – Jaidyn Mueller (Katharo Training Center)

First things first – How did you get started in combat sports? What’s it done for your life?

Throughout the last 14 years, I have done so many different styles of Martial Arts I started in Taekwondo then karate. Then I decided I wanted to pursue MMA so I went to Factory X to train in Muay Thai, Wrestling, Judo, and Jiu Jitsu. While at Factory X I started competing in Jiu Jitsu a lot. I fell in love with it! Now I am strictly doing Jiu Jitsu at Katharo Training Center and loving every minute of it.

“The Iron Maiden” – How the heck did you earn that awesome nickname?

I got my nickname when I was in Karate as a kid. I’ve always had a grind and a tendency to play a little dirty, and my coaches loved it. They decided that “The Iron Maiden” described my fighting style perfectly, and it still does, so the nickname stuck.

Judging by your previous matches, you’ve definitely got a little bit of a mean streak. How’s training been going for this one?

My training has been going great! I have been working incredibly hard, doing as many classes, private lessons, and training sessions possible, along with doing strength and conditioning twice a week at Landow Performance! I’m in great shape and am ready to go!

As far as life goes, what have been some of your greatest accomplishments?

Definitely winning teen no gi fight of the year in Fight 2 Win for 2 years in a row. I’m planning on this fight to be just as, if not more entertaining than both of those.

If you look ahead at the next few years, what are some of the other things you want to accomplish?

I want to make a career out of Jiu Jitsu. I want to continue to progress and grow in the sport, not only as a competitor but as a coach. I want to progress through the ranks and someday be the Fight 2 Win champion when I get my purple, brown, and black belt.

You seem really motivated. What keeps you same outside of the competition spectrum of things?

Outside of Jiu Jitsu I really enjoy baking, spending time with my friends and family, and watching The Karate Kid while cheering for Johnny (cause he is the real hero). What makes me tick is having a basic plan for my future in mind, that way I know what I am working for and have something to look forward to. It’s the most motivating thing to have a goal in mind, and to be chasing that goal.

Your opponent for Fight 2 Win 92 – Emily Fernandez, how much do you know about her?

I know a decent amount about her gi game, however, I don’t know a lot about her no gi game. But I am ready for anything she throws at me.

What does she have to be ready for? How would you like to finish this match?

I bring a lot if pressure and grind to the match. I play bit dirty and am not scared to go for a submission when I see it. I’m not picky about how I finish this match. Whatever submission she gives me, I’ll be happy with.

What’s next for you after this?

I’m incredibly excited for my future in Jiu Jitsu! I plan on traveling with Fight 2 Win after I graduate high school in May. I will be traveling, training, competing, and learning about the business behind the scenes.

Any message to the fans of Denver and those watching live on stream?

Thank you to everyone that is watching to support me. Your support means the world and I won’t disappoint. This is going to be a super entertaining fight so don’t miss it.
