Fight 2 Win 100 Preview – Black Belt Stars to Watch In Hawaii

It’s set to be one heck of a historic night this Saturday at the Hawaii Convention Center. The venue plays host to Fight 2 Win 100, the first mainstream jiujitsu  and sub grappling event to hit the islands in recent memory.

Differentiating from your typical BJJ tournament, the show F2W 100 will feature a rock concert-like atmosphere with competitors coming out to their own entrance music and full lighting and sound production. It’ll be quite the setup for athletes looking to showcase the art under the bright lights on stage. A who’s who of the island’s top stars are coming to play while top competitors from the mainland are also coming to show the crowd their own attacking style of jiujitsu.

Here are just a few of who you can expect to see compete at F2W 100:

Tracey Goodell (CJJF) – Prof. Goodell should be well-known jiujitsu fans. She’s been representing Hawaii and women’s BJJ as a top competitor for longer than most having been training. She’s the state’s first female black belt and has several F2W appearances to her credit. Tracey is known for her aggressive style and you’ve ever seen her compete at a big event, then you know she takes her matches very seriously. Looking forward to competing in front of her hometown crowd, look for nothing different when he takes on San Diego native Rita Gribben in the main event of the evening.

Rita Gribben (Gracie Humaita) – A black belt under Women’s BJJ pioneer Leticia Riberio, Rita is a consistent medalist and competitor on the IBJJF circuit. A proficient guard player, she’ll be looking to attack Tracey from a variety of positions come out of a Hawaii with win to take back with her to San Diego.

Aj Mendoza (Ron Shiraki Academy) – A representative of Ron Shiraki Academy, AJ Mendoza is also one of the proud owners of Day By Day Jiu Jitsu, along with his brother Tim. It doesn’t need to be said that Aj is committed to the BJJ lifestyle and looking forward to displaying his passion for the sport on stage when takes on North Shore Jiu Jitsu’s Chris Natta.

Kim Terra (CTA) – A medalist at some of the world’s top tournaments (Pans / Worlds / No Gi Worlds) and brother of fellow competitor Caio Terra, Kim is coming to Oahu to take on Gracie Barra’s Bilal Ahmad. He’s already got some F2W wins under his belt so look for Kim to try and gain another one here in advance of going for the masters title in the future.

Chris Leben (Baret Submissions) – Better known to MMA fans as “The Crippler,” Chris Leben is a TUF 1 alum and helped usher in the modern era of MMA/UFC worldwide. Also a pupil of Baret Yoshida, Chris will be making his F2W debut against veteran Troy Everett.
