GDBJJ’s Josh Guerra Looking For A Leglock Win at Fight 2 Win 93

With 2 Fight 2 Win matches under his belt already, Josh Guerra should be familiar competing on our platform. The husband, father and entrepreneur has also been working on perfecting some tricks ahead of his matchup this Friday as he represents GDBJJ against Gracie Barra’s Dionathan Santos at Fight 2 Win 93 in Scottsdale.

We caught up with Josh to get his thoughts on the upcoming matchup.

F2W93 Interview – Josh Guerra (GDBJJ)

Tell us about how you got started in BJJ and what your training situation is like.

I started Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 11 after watching UFC on tv. I found a small school that offered Jiu-Jitsu classes and did one class and was hooked right away. I knew this sport was for me.

What do you do for fun, work aside from Jiu Jitsu?

For fun I really enjoy lifting weights with my trainer at Inferno Performance or going for walks with my wife and baby.

Who else are you outside of jiujitsu?

Outside of Jiu-Jitsu I am a business owner, husband, and father. I am the owner and head instructor at Refuge BJJ in Anthem, Arizona. My wife and I have been married for 5 years and have a one-year old baby girl.

What’s your best jiujitsu memory so far?

My best Jiu-Jitsu memory thus far was when I won double gold at the Seattle open at brown belt. I had 6 matches total and finished every fight with foot locks.

How many times have you competed for Fight 2 Win?

This is my 3rd time competing for F2W and I am big fan of what Seth Daniels and his team are doing. This stage allows us athletes to compete on a big stage that is streamed all over the world and gives the athletes a chance to earn money in the process. I will always support F2W.

Have you looked into your opponent at all?

I have looked into his previous fights a little but not too much. I usually don’t do too much research on my opponents, I just train as hard as I can every day to be ready for any opponent.

How do you feel heading into it?

I feel very confident coming into this match. I’ve been doing a lot of strength and conditioning with my trainer Dontay Moch and I believe I’m at the best I’ve ever been physically. I’ve also been working my wrestling a lot with my coach Beau Tribolet and I am excited to display a different side of my stand up game. I wanted to be on this card to continue to be able to display my jiu-jitsu to the Arizona Jiu-Jitsu community as well as all those watching on Flograppling.

How do you plan to win this one?

I plan to win this fight via Foot lock. It’s a submission that I have been using a lot this past year at brown belt and I’ve had a lot of success with it. I even won my last F2W fight via foot lock.

Any last message to your fans or anything else to say before this weekend?

I just want to thank all my friends, family, coaches, teammates for their support. I also want to give a big shout out to all my sponsors for the never-ending support. Thank you to Inferno Performance, Flex City Supplements, Chillfit Cryo, Warrior Gi works, and CTRL Industries for sponsoring me for this event. I’ve worked incredibly hard to prepare for this event and I feel very confident that I will come out victorious. Thank you!
