Friday night October 21, 2011 at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado the Fight To Win promotion held their MMA event titled, “ZOMBIES.” The themed show featured a costume contest, a fight program with the fighters photoshopped as Living Dead beings and 12 action packed MMA bouts.

Main event: Josh Cavan vs. Chris Holland in a 170 lb. professional fight. Holland landed first with several right hooks and when Cavan stepped in to counter Holland landed an overhand right to score the main event KO at :20 of round one.

Co-Main event: Chase Hackett vs. Ian Stonehouse in a 155 lb. professional fight. Both fighters landed strikes from the outside before Hackett tripped Stonehouse to the mat. Stonehouse immediately got guard but Hackett postured/stood and landed solid GNP while Stonehouse tried to secure submissions. Hackett passed to side control then mount where he again worked his striking. Stonehouse rolled to escape the strikes and Hackett secured back control and set in the RNC for the submission victory at 3:05 of round one.

Jason Lee vs. Mark Korzionowski in a 185 lb. professional fight. The fighters entered the clinch early and traded knees. The bout was stopped when Korzionowski landed an accidental low blow. When the bout restarted each was content to strike from the outside until Lee used a low kick to set up a takedown attempt that Korzionowski defended. More knees were traded in the clinch and each was able to push the other onto the cage several times before the round ended. Round two began with the fighters spending some time striking from a distance before Lee tried for a takedown and they ended clinched against the cage. Lee reset his takedown attempt and ended with a deep guillotine choke that Korzionowski defended well. The fighters went to standing and against the cage both displayed good Muay Thai and dirty boxing techniques with Lee pressing the advantage and flurrying with punches and knees to end the round. Round three began with Lee landing a solid punch to set up a takedown into half mount to start working GNP. Lee stood and worked kicks to the legs of the downed Korzionowski before dropping into his guard for more GNP. Korzionowski showed an active guard and good defense and was able to work his way back to standing where he landed a series of very hard knees to the face of Lee. Lee pressed Korzionowski into the cage and got a takedown to finish the round with GNP. The scorecards were read and the winner by unanimous decision was Jason Lee.

Jamie Addie vs. Matt Manzanares in a 125 lb. professional fight. Addie came out with aggression and Manzanares answered in kind. Each landed solid punches, kicks and combinations including a shot from Addie that knocked out the mouthpiece of Manzanares. Addie landed a solid spinning backfist and Manzanares missed with a return effort of one of his own. After Addie missed with another spinning attempt it was Manzanares’ turn to land a stunning spinning backfist. More even exchanges were traded and Addie scored a slam takedown to end the round. Round two had more even exchanges with Manzanares utilizing his uppercuts well several times. Mid-round Manzanares shot for a takedown that was defended and the round ended with Manzanares pressing the action. Between the second and third round the fight was stopped due to Addie having suffered an injured jaw. Manzanares was credited with the TKO win at 5:00 of round two.

LT Nelson vs. Nick Buschman in a 155 lb. professional fight. Both fighters probed with leg kicks before Nelson scored a head kick. Buschman took it well and scored a takedown. Off of his back Nelson set in a guillotine choke to get the submission win at 1:08 of round one.

All of the rest of the fights were in the elimination division.

Adam Stroup vs. Zac Walsh. After a feeling out process Stroup landed a solid step in overhand right and the fighters briefly went to the mat. There was a scramble and they stood and jockeyed for position against the cage. They came off the cage, clinched and the fight hit the mat with Stroup on his back and Walsh posturing to work strikes. Stroup quickly swiveled his hips and set in an armbar, went belly down and got the tapout at 2:34 of round one

Cody Mumma vs. Brian Linzmeyer. The fighters quickly entered into and worked in the clinch. After securing double underhooks Mumma got a huge slam to take full mount and start his GNP attack. Linzmeyer threw up an arm for defense and Mumma ducked under it, secured his arm position, skipped to side control and set in the fight winning head and arm triangle choke to get the tapout victory at 1:21 of round one.

Anthony Werner vs. J. Keven Hernandez. The fighters traded punches and knees in the clinch before Werner staggered and dropped Hernandez. Werner followed him to the mat and Hernandez threw up a triangle choke. Werner escaped and scrambled to back control to set in a tight RNC. Hernandez defended for a prolonged time and finally escaped and scrambled to side control, then back control to set in his own RNC for the submission victory at 2:40 of round one.

Alonzo Garcia vs. David Treanor. Garcia immediately went to the clinch where he worked knees which Treanor answered in kind. Off of the cage Garcia scored a double leg takedown but Treanor worked to standing. Off of the clinch Treanor worked for a guillotine into a takedown, but Garcia spun out and the fighters scrambled to standing. Treanor threw a head kick then defended a takedown to end the round. Round two saw Garcia get a fast double leg takedown but Treanor worked to his feet then went to his back looking for a Kimura. Garcia escaped and worked to pass guard but Treanor drove forward to get to his feet. Off of the clinch Garcia took it to the mat and worked knees from side control. Treanor got to his knees, then to standing. With a leg trip Treanor got a takedown to end the round. Round three had Treanor get a takedown by way of leg sweep but Garcia got to his feet and immediately scored a double leg into side control. Treanor gave his back looking to escape and Garcia took back control. Treanor scored a slick back roll escape and the fighters scrambled for position before getting to their feet where Treanor scored a takedown to work GNP. Garcia went to standing then scored a double leg but he was unable to keep Treanor down. One last time Garcia scored a takedown and he worked GNP until the bell ended the fight. The scorecards were totaled and the winner by unanimous decision was Alonzo Garcia.

Chris Goettsch vs. Anthony Lee. Lee worked kicks early then the fighters traded punches. After backing Goettsch into the cage, a 1-2 combination from Lee dropped Goettsch and Lee followed with ground strikes to get the TKO at :38 of round one.

Garth Heth vs. Nick Meyer. Meyer used a leg kick to set up a takedown into side control. Heth secured full guard but Meyer passed to full mount and flurried with solid GNP to get the TKO stoppage at 1:42 of round one.

Matt Tucker vs. Tyson Vigil. Vigil slipped throwing a strike early and Tucker followed him to the mat. Vigil threatened with a triangle but Tucker took side control for GNP before transitioning to full mount where he continued striking to earn the TKO win at 1:31 of round one.

“Of The Night" moments:
Submission of the night goes to J. Keven Hernandez for his amazing heart in escaping what looked to be a fight ending RNC only to get a reversal and win by an RNC of his own.

KO/TKO of the night goes to Chris Holland for his :20 Main Event Knock Out victory.

Fight of the night goes to Jason Lee and Mark Korzionowski for their three round evenly matched professional fight that tested each in all areas of combat.
