From Troublemaker to Gym Owner, Tyler Larsen Reflects Prior To F2W93

Not everybody comes into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a polished individual. As a matter of fact, martial arts (including MMA and BJJ) are a great outlet for folks looking for an escape from the rigors of every day life.

Such is the case for Fight 2 Win 93 competitor Tyler Larsen.  Read on to learn more about Tyler prior to him taking the stage this Saturday night in Scottsdale.

F2W93 Interview – Tyler Larsen

How did you find your way into this sport?

I was a bit of a trouble maker in my early years and as corny as it sounds it saved my life. I know a lot of people say this but it truly has changed my life in so many ways, especially mentally. I have an amazing training situation under Professor Wyatt Shepherd at Ethos Martial Arts in Queen Creek. I am also one of the owner/instructors at Ethos.

I love to study combat sports history and how we all got to this point. Prize fighting truly fascinates me. I also like to travel as much as possible!

What do you do when you’re not in the gym?

Outside of the gym I am first and foremost a family man. I have a beautiful wife named Samantha and a beautiful daughter named Lucy.

What’s your best jiujitsu memory so far?

My best moment so far is competing on the big stage at Fight 2 Win! I have competed before and I love the format, I will be hunting submissions my whole match. Just the way it should be!

How do you feel about your upcoming match? Why did you want to be on this card?

I feel amazing for my upcoming match, I had some amazing sponsors this time around that really allowed me to be stress free throughout the camp. Honestly why would you not want to be on this card!? Competing at the highest level in front of friends and family is an honor.

What do you know about your opponent, John Burns? Anything you’re watching out for?

Not really, all I know is I put in the work and embraced the grind. I hope he did too, may the best man win.

How do you plan to win this one?

I’m a submission fighter fighting on a sub only card, No doubt I am going for the submission.

What’s next for you after this?

I have the 5 grappling tournament this Sunday! No rest for the wicked

Any last message to your fans or anything else to say before this weekend?

Thank you to everyone who has supported me! I want to dedicated this match to my brother Erik Brown, RIP. Shout out to my sponsors Bulletproof Off-road, FightScrub,Mountain Top Electric, Brutal Company, Submit the Stigma, Skippy’s Grill and Cantina and Below Zero Cryo.
